The Usual Process

  1. Consultation: I will assess the tattoo, discuss expectations, and evaluate factors like skin type, ink colors, and tattoo size.

  2. Preparation: Before the procedure, the tattooed area will be cleaned and protective eyewear is provided to shield the eyes from the laser.

  3. Laser Treatment: During the actual treatment, the laser device emits short pulses of intense light that target the tattoo ink. Different wavelengths of light are used depending on the colors present in the tattoo. The laser light is absorbed by the tattoo pigments, causing them to break down into smaller particles.

  4. Disruption of Pigments: The laser energy disrupts the tattoo pigments without causing significant damage to the surrounding skin. The body's immune system recognises these fragmented pigments as foreign substances and works to eliminate them.

  5. Healing Process: After the treatment, the treated area may be sensitive, and some redness, swelling, or blistering may occur. Patients are advised to keep the area clean.

  6. Multiple Sessions: Complete tattoo removal usually requires multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on factors such as the size and color of the tattoo, as well as individual skin characteristics.

It's important to note that complete tattoo removal may not always be possible, and some individuals may experience residual scarring or changes in skin texture. Additionally, the effectiveness of laser tattoo removal can vary based on factors such as the type of ink used in the tattoo and the individual's skin type. It's crucial to follow the aftercare instructions provided. We recommend using aloe vera.
